About Us
The Cambridge Badminton Club celebrated their 35th anniversary in the 2009/2010 season. The club was founded in 1974 by some very enthusiastic badminton players and is still thriving today with over 100 members.
The club offers organized play for all abilities and is very social. Various events are held throughout the season in addition to hosting our own Club Championships in our last month of play.
The year ends on a high note with our Awards Dinner and Banquet. The club offers a competitive House League for members and you can also access a competitive circuit through the Western Ontario Badminton Association.
Our venue is St. Benedict’s Secondary School at the corner of Saginaw Pkwy and Franklin Blvd. in Cambridge. The club plays on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The season starts mid-September and runs until the end of April.
Guests are welcome. For a map and directions please check out our location page or contact us for more information.
History
The Cambridge Badminton Club all began in 1974. Up until that time there were various smaller clubs being run from Preston High School, the local YMCA & YWCA’s and community services. It was at this time that the Cambridge Badminton was formed to bring everyone together into more competitive badminton. Monday evenings was secured at Glenview Secondary School and Thursday evenings at St. Benedict's.
The club grew from the original six people in 1974 to over 100 active members in 1977. At times the number of memberships were limited due to space. Stronger than ever we support 9 courts and over 100 active members today.
